The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (abriviated A.S.P.C.A) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the prevention of animal cruelty in the United States.
It was founded by Henry Bergh in 1866, 20 years after the British Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), the ASPCA has kept to its mission to save as many animals as possible in its more than 150 year history. And unlike the similarly goaled PETA, the ASPCA doesn't intentionally harm and kill any animals it rescues.
As of 2019, the organization has over 1.2 million donors and members.
