Lieutenant-General Sir Adrian Paul Ghislain Carton de Wiart, VC, KBE, CB, CMG, DSO was a British Army officer born of Belgian and Irish parents. He was awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest military decoration awarded for valor "in the face of the enemy" in various Commonwealth countries. He was in both world wars. He lost an eye, was shot face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip, and ear survived 2 plane crashes and tore his finger, which is why he is considered the immortal soldier and after all he only said "Frankly I enjoyed war"
