Anil Kapoor (born December 24, 1956) is an Indian actor and producer who has appeared in over one hundred Hindi-language films and many other international films. He is best known for his starring role in Danny Boyle's film Slumdog Millionaire.

Kapoor was born into a Punjabi Hindu family on 24 December 1956 in Chembur, Mumbai to Nirmal and Surinder Kapoor. He has three siblings; Reena, Boney and Sanjay. The film actors Arjun Kapoor and Mohit Marwah are his nephews, and his niece is actress Janhvi Kapoor. His children are Sonam, Rhea and Harshvardhan, who refer to him as "AK".

Kapoor has won over 20 awards for acting, including the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award, the Stardust Best Actor in a Negative Role Award and the IIFA Best Supporting Actor Award. He has also been nominated for several other awards, such as the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award.

He is an ambassador for Plan International India, the Indian branch of the humanitarian organization Plan International that works in 71 countries to advance children’s rights and equality for girls. In addition, Kapoor donated his entire salary from Slumdog Millionaire to the organization, and a screening of the film in Somerset raised £2000 for Plan's work in Mumbai.
