Robert "Bob" Irwin (born 8 June 1939) is an Australian naturalist, animal conservationist, former zookeeper, and a pioneering herpetologist who is also famous for his conservation and husbandry work with apex predators and reptiles. He is the founder of the Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park (now known as the Australia Zoo). He is the father of the late conservationist and television personality Steve Irwin. He continues to campaign for wildlife and its environment through his foundation, Bob Irwin Wildlife and Conservation Foundation Inc.

Trivia

  • Bob was once arrested back in April of 2011 and charged for contravening police direction as part of his civil disobedience actions against the Queensland Gas Company, as he was in opposition to the construction of a gas pipeline. He faced court in May of that year, and he pleaded guilty and was fined $300 dollars as of a result.
