Popular Russian journalist Boris Sobolev became famous for filming scandalous programs that expose individual representatives of various activities. The man's professional career includes many documentaries that touch on sensitive topics and thus attract the attention of viewers.
Childhood[]
Boris Sobolev was born in January 1974 in Moscow. The boy dreamed of writing since childhood, so when he graduated from Moscow school, he began to implement his plans. For this, the young man chose Moscow State University, the Faculty of Philosophy. While studying there, Sobolev gradually learned the basics of journalism, and soon Boris got his first job related to his long-standing dream.
Journalism[]
Boris got his first job on television in 1994, when he was still a third-year student at Moscow State University. However, this did not hinder the young man's career. Sobolev tried himself as a journalist at the TV company "Author's Television", where he gained positive experience in the profession and partially studied it from the inside. The aspiring reporter learned to feel at ease in front of the camera, gained experience in communicating with people, and sometimes independently collected materials for future programs.
The guy's desire to develop was quickly noticed by the heads of other companies, and soon Boris was invited to host the Press Cube program. Moreover, he independently prepared materials for filming, raised interesting topics and looked for relevant information. So, over time, from an ordinary journalist, he rose to the position of the main reporter and correspondent of the Vremechko program. Previously, this program was broadcast on NTV, and later it was transferred to TV Center. In 1998, Sobolev again got a job at NTV and hosted news programs there for 3 years. The famous documentary program Profession - Reporter brought fame to Boris. This is a series of television films-reports on sensational topics of the modern world. The man's work was appreciated not only by regular viewers of the channel.
In 2006, the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company nominated the reporter for the TEFI award for the projects he created. Although he did not win the award, it was a great boost to his career. In 2008, Sobolev was invited to host a new project. That was when he became the main host of the Special Reporter program, thanks to which Russian viewers learned even more about him. Boris fearlessly touches on sensitive topics and collects hot material for the program. The topics of the programs are the exposure of drug dens and alcohol mafia, as well as a demonstration of the true, in his opinion, work of officials, the disclosure of corruption schemes, etc. At the same time, the man was never afraid of problems from people working in these areas.
Four years later, Sobolev transferred to another channel, Rossiya-1, and became a permanent correspondent for Vesti there. The man's desire to develop his career soon paid off, and Boris was allowed to participate in various news programs on the channel.
A program with his participation, which aired in December 2012 and talked about the poor preparation of graduates from the Russian State University of Trade and Economics, caused quite a bit of talk. After it appeared on the Internet, an interview with students from this university who failed to answer basic questions was loudly discussed.
Sobolev also paid attention to the problems of modern education in his reports “At the Bottom of Knowledge”, in which he personally conducts investigations into corruption in universities, finds out the cost of entering a university without the Unified State Exam and a number of other details.
And soon Boris launched a series of author's programs, which were released in turn over several years and revealed problems that worry Russians. For example, in the program “Crown Individuals”, he talks about girls' victories in beauty contests. More precisely, about how this happens in reality. The man presents to the judgement of viewers conversations made with the help of hidden cameras with real organizers of such events.
Boris manages to find out that there is a lot of money behind the first places, after which the doors to the world of fashion and show business open for young beauties. And a 3-minute interview with Inna Zhirkova, the wife of Russian footballer Yuri Zhirkov, who did not show herself in the best light by not answering simple questions about the Earth and the Sun, as well as children's writers, caused a big stir on the Internet. After that, ridicule rained down on the girl, to which Inna's husband threatened to sue the channel "Russia-1", but the matter never went beyond words.
The program "Burden of the Gypsies" released in 2016 tells about the camps that populate Russian territories. Gypsy families settle in cities and villages, and their only source of income is the sale of hard drugs. Moreover, they involve children and women with many children in this. Boris Sobolev studied this case from the inside and presented it to viewers as a true problem of modern society. In 2018, Sobolev's next program "Neither forest nor plantings" was released.
Boris Sobolev now[]
Boris continues to work as a journalist and also looks for new topics that remain undisclosed to Russians.
At the beginning of 2019, Sobolev's program "Going to Hell" hit the screens, which became even more resonant than his previous projects combined. Here, the man showed viewers the other side of the show about sorcerers, witches and healers who, after demonstrating "supernatural" abilities on television, create a business on people who believe in it and are ready to give their last money in exchange for help.
The main characters of the program were the participants of the well-known program "Battle of Psychics", who, not knowing that they are being filmed, tell the interviewer the truth about such shows. When he openly asks to demonstrate abilities, he receives a refusal or an outright failure of the subject. And if the "magicians" agree to participate in the experiment, then only with hints. Thus, Boris proved that all such programs are built on deception.
