Captain Thomas "Tom" Moore (April 30th, 1920 - February 2nd, 2021) was a 100-year-old man from England who fought in the Second World War and earned several medals. During the 2020 coronavirus outbreak, Captain Tom walked 2,530 yards by walking up and down his garden multiple times to raise money for the National Health Service. He completed the challenge on April 16th, 2020, but continued and the next day his total amount raised was 17 million pounds. He turned 100 years old on April 30th, 2020, and was promoted to honorary Colonel by Queen Elizabeth II.

On May 20, 2020, it was announced that Tom would be knighted for his fundraising efforts, making him Captain Sir Tom Moore. The queen knighted him on July 17th, 2020, in an outdoor ceremony at Windsor Castle.

In early 2021, Captain Tom was hospitalised with coronavirus. He had refused to take the vaccine due to concerns that it would interfere with his pneumonia medication. Despite doctors doing their best to help him, he tragically died on the second of February 2021.
