Charles Ramsey was the neighbor of Ariel Castro. He rescued a trio of women who were held captive by Ariel Castro in his own house for a decade.

On May 6, 2013, after Amanda Berry got in contact with Castro's neighbors, Charles Ramsey breaks the door open by kicking it from the bottom, and freed Amanda and her daughter Jocelyn. Charles and Amanda called 911, and the police arrived and freed other captives Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus, and all the women (plus the daughter) were taken to the MetroHealth Medical Center.
As for Ariel Castro, he was then arrested and tried. He was sentenced to life in prison. As punishment, Castro's house is then demolished on August 7. Later, on September 3 at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Ohio, Ariel Castro was found dead in his cell, who committed suicide by hanging himself with bedsheets.
Charles Ramsey was hailed as a hero for rescuing Amanda Berry and other women from Ariel Castro's home.
