Beatty was a rapidly promoted war hero and is well known for his work in the Battle of Dongola and Battle of Omdurman in the Mahdist War, the Boxer Rebellion, and the Battle of Heligoland Bight, Battle of Dogger Bank, and Battle of Jutland in World War I.
