Doug Wells was a resident of Missoula, Montana, who killed the serial killer Wayne Nance.
On 3 September 1986, Nance approached the home of Doug and his wife Kris and asked Doug if he could borrow a flashlight. When Doug let him in Nance hit him over the head, tied him up and stabbed him in the chest. He then dragged Kris upstairs to rape her. Despite his wounds, Doug managed to free himself and load his rifle before dragging himself upstairs and shooting Nance. Doug made a full recovery in hospital, whereas Nance died of his injuries the following day.
