Guan Yu (? – 220) is born in Xiexian County in Hedong County (now Yuncheng County in Shanxi Province), He was called "Mei Shao Gong". In his early years, he followed Liu Bei and wandered around, sympathizing with Liu Bei and Zhang Fei. Although he was treated well by Cao Cao, Guan Yu still took the opportunity to leave Cao Cao and follow Liu Bei. After the Chibi War, Guan Yu helped Liu Bei and Zhou Yu attack Cao Ren's southern county, and then Liu Bei's power grew gradually, while Guan Yu kept Jingzhou for a long time.
In the twenty-four years of Jian'an, Guan Yu gradually gained the upper hand in the military friction between him and Cao Ren. Subsequently, both land and water marched together to besiege Xiangyang and Fancheng, and flooded the 7th Army in the autumn to overthrow the whole army that had come to rescue them. In the Qing Dynasty, Guan Yu was honored as "loyal god, Wuling spirit, benevolence, courage and prestige of Guan Sheng Emperor" and "Wusheng" as well as "Wensheng" Confucius. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms respects it as the first of the "five tigers" in Shu, and Mao Zonggang calls it "Yijue" in the three absolutes of the Romance.
