A honeypot is a website designed by a federal government agency such as the FBI, CIA, NSA, British MI6, etc. in order to attract and gain information on hackers. Much like Bait cars, it is also referred to as a “honey trap”. However, it is NOT to be confused with “honey trapping” or “honey potting” done by organized crime syndicates because it’s done by law enforcement or government officials rather than mobsters. Plus, there’s no seduction involved.
