James Joseph Reeb (January 1st, 1927 - March 11th, 1965) was a minister, social worker, and civil rights activist from Wichita, Kansas. He was of English, Dutch, German, and Swiss descent, and was killed in 1965 by the Ku Klux Klan for siding with the African American community. He was great friends with Martin Luther King, Jr. as well as four fellow civil rights activists named Viola Liuzzo, Jimmie Lee Jackson, Malcolm X and Jonathan Daniels, all of whom died the same year as him from being murdered.
