Johnson or LBJ, was an American politician and war hero who served as the 36th President of the United States of America after the assassination of John F. Kennedy. He is remembered for the Civil Rights Act (followed by the Voting Rights Act to let more black people vote) and for escalating American involvement in Vietnam. He also waged the "War on Poverty" and raised millions of Americans above the poverty line. Previously, he was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry during World War II.
