Margaret "Maggie" Oliver is a British social activist and former detective with the Greater Manchester police who is known as a whistleblower for exposing the police's poor handling of the Rochdale child sex abuse ring. She is also the founder of the "Never Too Late To Tell" campaign, which encourages rape survivors to speak out about their experiences.
Oliver received the phone call inviting her to join the investigation into the Rochdale ring in 2010. She was tasked with regaining the trust of two victims of the ring who were previously labelled as unreliable witnesses. She was successful enough to get the two girls to name their abusers and try to pick them out in identity parades. However, her colleagues had no intention of actually prosecuting any of the men involved because they believed the girls were worthless, driving her to resign. The police eventually secured convictions (having been forced to by public outcry) by intimidating one of the victims into testifying against the men.
