The Tank Man, also known as the Unknown Protestor and the Unknown Rebel, is the nickname of a Chinese protestor who, in a famous photo taken by journalists, stood up in front of tanks sent by the Chinese military to supress a protest and prevented them from passing. Famously, he also jumped to the side when they tried to go round him. Afterwards, he was pulled away by a group of bystanders concerned for his safety.

The British tabloid Sunday Times later identified the man as 19-year-old Wang Weilin, however the accuracy of this claim is disputed by many as differing accounts exist of what happened afterwards, with the Times claiming he was charged with "political hooliganism" and executed, and the Chinese government refuting this and telling a journalist "We can't find him. We got his name from journalists. We have checked through computers but can't find him among the dead or among those in prison."
